The Truth about UTP!!!!

"Hey just some tips from a graduating senior. :)

1) Your grades in UTP are not 100% based on your effort, 20%-30%% of it depends on your luck, what I'm talking about is: Supervisors, Lecturers.

Unlucky for those who:

- Get lazy/lousy/strict/dictator/inconsiderable lecturer(s) as your FYP, ETP, FDP, FYDP, CED projects. I've seen very hardworking students getting a B for FYP or ETP (even though they got a Gold in EDX/SeDEX), while others secured A- or an A.

- Get lazy/problematic/parasite/defame-prone teammates in group projects (FDP, CED, FYDP, ETP). There was a case a whole group of ETP were forced to dropped the subject because TWO of their mates decided to drop the subject.

- Get a very strict supervisors for the internship (host company supervisors). I've seen 3.9+ batch mate(s) got B+ for internship.

- Get a very strict lecturers for killers subjects. e.g: Transport Phenomena (CE), RMS (PE), Vibrations II (ME), Thermodynamics (ME & CE), etc. Failure rates got up.

- Get a lousy Graduate Assistants: I've seen several batchmates lost up to 20% in their coursework marks in tutorials just because the GA is an asshole (excuse my language)

My point here is: Don't get too cocky if you get excellent grades, don't get too sad if you get lower grades. :)

2) Be good with the staff(s), some of them are very friendly, some might not appear to be, but try to approach them, don't blind yourselves with hatred or revenge, the staff(s) also experience(s) PMS days.

- If you're lucky and have a good relationship with them, you can ask some of the senior staff(s) to write you a recommendation letter, certificates, etc.

- This includes the security guards, be friendly, if you get extra friendly, some of them can cancel out your summons. (true story not joking)

3) Don't get upset easily when someone is degrading you, take it on the positive side and look back on what you did wrong. As the Malays would say "Jangan cepat melenting". Important as to keep relationships with lecturers and others.

4) Avoid, (if possible) getting in a relationship with your own batch mate, if you screwed up (caught cheating, beat your gf, caught having sex) you're gonna have a bad time with your friends. (Though some might say, you cant stop love. :))

5) Don't, have sexual intercourse in the campus! If you get caught (and there were cases couples getting caught), OMG I'll be praying for your future.

6) Some fun facts and stories I've heard in my last 5 years here. (possibly degrading our beloved UTP, not every Uni is perfect though, face it.)

- Lots of condoms were found at the back area around the water tanks. According to wild gossips (now closed and locked).

- There were ghosts spotted in Block 21, Block 15 (white entity), Block 16 (woman entity,elevator ghosts,labs alarms going off), Block 5 (elevators), Square Gardens (unknown woman laughing), Water tanks at the back area (couples dating were harrassed by unknown figure), Underground toilets between circulation and finance office (toilet's doors getting blown by wind, yeah really, wind underground???)

- Famous "dating" spots (hotspots), Kayak House, Oval Park, Helipad, GDC area, Square Garden, Academic Blocks, Old Academic Blocks, Lakes, Convo-square parking areas, V4 fields, Block B, Swimming Pools.

- Abortion case in 2008, offenders were thrown out. (no joking, offender were foundation student)

- Gay sexual offenders caught in 2009, (closed case, not much info)

- Peeping tom(s) caught a video of girl taking bath in 2009, (V2C top floor)

- International students beaten by locals (outsiders) at bus stand outside UTP because of harassing a local female students. (Police case, not much info)

- International student fighting with local cobblers. (Police case, in newspaper, international student were defamed)

- Male caught getting into female hostel (International students, not much info)

- Young female cleaners in V4 offering oral sex with a payment of RM50, 2008. (very discreet case, but true story)

- Clubbers caught in a raid, drug test failed. (offenders were suspended temporarily)

- Couples caught in a homestay outside. (offender, male, were suspended temporarily)

- Thieves caught with some laptops and phone in possession, by security. (left UTP after got beaten by several students)

- Outsiders caught red handed trying to steal laptop at V1. (beaten by students, police case)

That's all i could remember for now, be safe guys, be smart, be good to others. :)

In good days or bad days, i still love my UTP. :)
